Ashanti and LL Cool J hit the Louis Vuitton boutique in Manhasset, New York on August 15th, 2009 to host a benefit in support of Heroes at Home. The charity helps military families facing financial hardships.

Though Ashanti and her boyfriend, Nelly, have been dating for over five years, the sexy songstress’s mother/manager isn’t keen on the couple walking down the aisle anytime soon. “I’m not ready for that!” Tina Douglas told In Touch when asked about her daughter’s potential “I dos” at the In Touch, House of Hype and Island Def Jam Grammy after-party on February 8 in Beverly Hills.
Luckily for mom, Ashanti admitted that she herself wasn’t ready for an engagement to her “Body on Me” duet partner. “Not yet,” the R&B superstar replied to In Touch when asked if she was expecting a Valentine’s Day diamond ring. - InTouch Weekly
Here’s a video we didn’t get to post because we were working on the new layout. In the video, Nelly is asked about the recent rumors in which Star Magazine reported that Tina Douglas (Ashanti’s mom) is the reason why Nelly has not proposed to Ashanti.
I definitely do not believe a thing from this article, but here it goes:
Nelly is ready to propose to his girlfriend of five years, Ashanti. But there’s just one problem: He can’t stand her mother, Tina Douglas!
“Tina sticks her nose in everything because she’s also Ashanti’s manager,” a source tells Star. “She’s always pushing Ashanti to make more money, to always look great. It stresses her out, and Nelly doesn’t like that.”
The rapper, 34, has tried to encourage Ashanti, 28, to become more independent, but “Tina has such a strong personality that she’s kind of afraid of her.” Still, if the singer doesn’t put her mom in her place soon, she won’t be getting that rock she’s been hoping for.
“Before he makes her his wife,” adds the source, “Nelly wants to know that Ashanti can make decisions on her own.” - Star Magazine
