Posted by Jon Aléksandr on June 14th, 2009 with 0 Comments | Filed Under: News

Fort Stewart, where 3rd Infantry Division Soldiers train hard to get and stay ready to defend the United States of America, will be the site for a celebration of the birth of the nation, July 2-5.

Soldiers and their Families will celebrate with song, picnics, a 50-gun salute, hot air balloon rides, fun, games, food and a number of other activities.

The events, including the traditional fireworks, will make up the 3rd ID and Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield “Worth Fighting For!” Independence Day Weekend Celebration.

Country music star Trace Adkins and R&B singer Ashanti will perform in the Independence Day Weekend Celebration concert, July 3.

But the 3rd ID, Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield will celebrate the nation’s birthday with much more than music.

Scheduled on July 2 are a golf tournament at Taylors Creek Golf Course, a carnival at Walker Field and a 50-gun Salute to the nation at Cottrell Field, beginning at 6 p.m.

On July 3, the operative word will be “free” for Corkan Family Recreation Area activities such as swimming, skating, laser tag and miniature golf. There will be picnic sites, kids’ interactive games, a carnival, a petting zoo and hot air balloon rides, among other activities, at the Walker Field Picnic Area. Adkins and Ashanti will perform that night at Donovan Field East. After the concert, fireworks will light up the sky.

The carnival at Walker Field continues through July 5. It is free all days except July 2 and July 5, when it is pay as you go. - SOURCE

‘There’s No Place Like Home’ with Ashanti
Posted by Jon Aléksandr on May 13th, 2009 with 0 Comments | Filed Under: News

“There’s No Place Like Home” for homeless shelter dogs, according to Nigel, the former street-dog-turned-stage-star, who is making his New York professional debut in The Wiz at City Center in June. The need for a home is what inspired Nigel, along with co-star Ashanti (who plays Dorothy) to host “There’s No Place Like Home”Adoption Day on Saturday, May 30 at 11:00 am at City Center (55th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues).

Nigel will be signing “pawographs,” and will pose for photos on a bright Yellow Brick Road that will be installed on the sidewalk in front of City Center. The Humane Society of New York, along with Broadway animal trainer and handler Bill Berloni, will be bringing adorable, star-quality dogs to City Center for adoption. All pups would like nothing better than to click their four heels together and go home with a loving human.

Ashanti and “The Inc” Parting Ways
Posted by Jon Aléksandr on May 7th, 2009 with 0 Comments | Filed Under: Articles, News

This is actually GOOD news, Ashanti wanted to leave the label a long time ago, so Irv Gotti is not really “dropping her”, he’s giving her what she wants.

MTV.com: Irv Gotti says he and Ashanti, the Princess of the Inc., will soon be parting company. He said they haven’t been on speaking terms for some time, and the label head/ reality TV star says there’s nothing he can do but end their musical and business affiliation.

“The relationship has run its course,” Gotti explained earlier this week while visiting the MTV offices. “The chemistry of what’s needed — we’re in two totally different places. You’re talking to somebody that took her and shaped and molded her and put her out there for the world, and it blew up. We [hold the record] for the [fastest] selling debut by a female R&B artist — 503 [thousand]. We did it! My views and philosophies and her views and philosophies are not meeting up.”

Ashanti’s last LP, The Declaration — her first in four years — came out in June of last year on The Inc and was created with virtually no input from Gotti. The album was her first in-studio project not to go platinum. Gotti says it’s because the singer deviated from their winning formula and tag-team effort.

“I personally believe for her to be successful, it took the energy … when you seen her it, was 30 n—as around her, and she’s the princess so nice and pretty walking through,” he said. “The music was great, but it was the energy that was created. It wasn’t just her standing there and singing a song.

“We don’t really speak or talk or anything like that,” he continued. “It’s sad in a way. But in another, it’s like its all good.”

Well, maybe not that good. Gotti said it is best for them to part ways.

“I don’t think she can win. She needs some guidance with that,” Gotti added. “But she’s not thinking like that. Really, I couldn’t tell you what’s she’s thinking. So that relationship has run its course and honestly, I’m gonna just drop her.”

At press time, a rep for Ashanti had not granted MTV News’ requests for comment.

Gotti told MTV News that he’s maintained the rights to all of his artists including Ashanti, Lloyd and of course Ja Rule. The exec says he’s working on a deal to reunite with his fellow Def Jam alumni Lyor Cohen, Kevin Lyles and Julie Greenwald over at the Warner Music Group. He says new albums by Lloyd, new rapper Newz and Rule are in the cooker. He explains the delay of Rule’s The Mirror is because they are trying to craft a classic LP.
